Chapter 04Terence and Markus walked pass the archway marked "#2” and believed this to be the post for the exams. As they walked passed it fighting can be seen from the many arenas that lay scattered around the yard with bright flashes of light blinking every now and then. "Hey how you feel?” Terence asked Markus nervously. "Oh I’m good…sort of. You aight though? You look jittery man?” Terence laughed nervously a bit. "Kind of doing okay. Did you see the way that chick pointed me out? She’s serious!” Markus laughed. "Yep, she probably going to fuck you up too.” He continued laughing as Terence stomach knotted up more the moment he spotted her through all of the commotion. She was standing in the center of the exams square arena with her arms crossed looking at tad bit angry. "My jaint over here, so I’m a see you when this all over with.” Terence nodded, "Y-yeah.” "Don’t worry about too much. Just go up in there with the mentality of you going to show off and fuck her up before she fuck you up.” Terence smiled at his humor and nodded. "Yeah…thanks.” They waved to each other and parted ways, Terence walking towards his challenger.
"You’re here. You’re not going to run?” She asked him with her arms still folded. Terence shook his head nervously. "No, I’m going to pass this exam.” He clinched his teeth and she rose an eyebrow. "You don’t sound so sure. Maybe I should explain why I picked you out of the crowd.” Terence had stop tensing up to hear this. "You and your friends were among the few that had weird signals. You’re probably that few that actually have released some form of ki before. Therefore you sort of know what you’re doing. Unlike those others…” She turned her head to someone being knocked out of the ring and onto the grass coming to a rest with bruises on his face. "I wanted to choose someone worth my time.” Terence remained wordless and she turned back to him and smirked again. "Do you know what ki is?” Terence had to think for a minute. "Umm, isn’t energy?” "Yes but not just energy. It’s the life force of the world and you yourself. When you use ki you are drawing from this world and from yourself but mostly from yourself.” She rose her hand and showed him some jewels in her hand. "Can I…at least…know your name…?” Terence asked nervously. "It’s Tohsaka Rin.” a voice came from behind them. Terence turned around and she averted her gaze to the person. "Why are you here Hawk?” Hawk smiled at her folding his arms. "You’re bold in using the microphone to call this one out. Same with Hikaru over there. But she seems to be flirting more than being serious…which is right up your alley isn’t Rin?” She looked back at Terence who looked back at her. "I suppose so. I’m about ready to start anyway. This one’s a little bright.” Hawk stood back a few steps. "I see, then let’s begin.”
Dominic stood at exam post #3 staring the one he challenged down while taking off his glasses and placing them on the ground beside the arena. She stood in a traditional Chinese stance with her red hair flowing behind her in the wind. "Don’t blame me for what happens to that stuff.” Dominic looked at her. "Ain’t nothing going to happen to it.” She smiled a bit. "So a bit confident huh. Alright, whenever you’re ready to go let’s go.” "Aight Lianna.” "Alright…here I come!” Lianna rushes Dominic with her hands beside her as if she is about to fly. Dominic rose his guard up shocked at the speed at which she charged and stood firmly on the ground. "Too predictable…” Lianna whispered getting up on Dominic and flipping completely over his head. Dominic faced turned surprised as he turned around but before he could move Lianna had threw a quick palm strike to his stomach making him buckle over before double palm striking him in the face. Dominic’s neck whipped up quickly but not enough to hurt him severely. "I’m not through yet!” She follows up the attack with two roundhouses to Dominic’s face knocking him down to one knee. She pivots to the side Dominic’s face is and thrusts her shoulder towards it knocking him up and off his feet into the air. "Time to finish you!” She yells out furiously running up under him and leaping into the air with her foot aimed at his back. Dominic wakes up from his daze and turns around putting up a guard to prevent the attack. He blocks the kick feeling the impact right on his wrist causing him to fall back a bit and both of them to go numb. He lands on his feet sliding a bit but stopped just at the edge of the arena. Lianna landed gracefully as well and smiled at him. "If you fall out the arena it’s ring out you know. But if you did well enough I wouldn’t care so much. So far you’re bombing…” Dominic wiped some dirt off of his face revealing a bruise above his right eye. "I ain’t even started yet. You about to see.” She shrugged her shoulders. "Alright, then show me!”
Rin started off testing Terence’s abilities by firing off a few jewels at him. He started to run around the arena at full speed since the jewels were coming pretty fast and would naturally hit him if he jogged. He began to run the edges of the arena and Rin yelled out at him. "If you go out the boundaries the test is over just a…reminder!” She shot a jewel slightly ahead of him to see if he was thinking on his feet other than run around and he surprised her by quickly spinning around and gunned straight for her, hand cocked back. Before he got towards her he stopped just shy of her face. She gasped but then looked at Terence who was clearly struggling. "Why’d you stop?” Terence pulled his fists back. "I…I can’t hit girls…” he said ashamed a bit. Hawk began laughing in the background. "Don’t worry Terence. Rin is able. Don’t think of her as a girl anyway since she’s pretty much as tomboy as they get.” She tossed the last jewel in her hand at Hawk who smacked it away and into the sky. "You shouldn’t pay attention to me.” "Why don’t you”, before she could finish Terence had psyched himself up and caught her off guard with an amateurish sweep. She began to fall to the ground seeing Terence winding up for another punch. "Sheesh you’re slow.” She hit the ground on her right arm and rolled back before Terence’s punch could connect. Terence clenched his fist, angry at himself again he couldn’t bring himself to hit her. "Better stop hesitating. If you can’t get over this it’s enough for me to fail you!” Terence nodded and began to think about what to do next. He shook off any doubts and ran straight at her again. "You don’t have anymore of those little bullet things right now!” As soon as he got close enough he threw a punch that she matched with one of her own. Terence eyes widened while she smirked at him. He hopped back two steps and stared at her. "You didn’t think I was pathetic up close did you? That’s shallow thinking.” "She can fight up close too? Then how the heck am I supposed too…” "Take your time, you got till 12.” She interrupted his thoughts. Terence rushed her again but this time when he got close to her he decided to go low with another attempt at a sweep. She stepped on his extended leg freezing him in place and nullifying his slide attack. She returned a roundhouse of her own but Terence evaded it by rolling backward quickly. He smacked his leg twice to make sure he could feel it and stood up again. Terence rushes her once more putting a bit more feeling into his attacks. "Same old story…” She whispered to herself catching his punch and flipping him to the ground in a judo throw. Terence looked up seeing a foot coming down for his face, but he avoided it rolling to the side quickly and getting in a kneeling position. He dashes forward putting strain on his knee and rises up with an uppercut that connects cleanly. He follows up by throwing a haymaker with his other hand and staggering her a bit. She leaned to the right before catching another hook that leaned her to the left but still didn’t sound like full power was in it. Terence went for a straight kick to the stomach with some power into it this time. She shook of the stun quick enough to move to the side quickly while arming herself again and being back in zoning distance. "Pretty good…” She wiped some dirt off of her. "I guess now we can start to get serious!”
