Chapter 13
"The next day was a transitioning period for the five heroes. That morning everyone got up pretty early, excited about being able to free roam some of the town and the school for the first time. Of course family call to check on their sons and daughters as well as to bring over any wanted possessions and extra clothes before leaving again. With their final farewells, the five were once again on their own. This is the beginning of a new world to them.”
Terence walked down the hall from the second bathroom after taking a shower back to his room to see Dominic up sitting in the pull out bed on his laptop with his television on sitting on the dresser. Terence was watching Dominic for a bit who didn’t know he was there until he looked up at him. Whatever he was doing, it seemed important to him. "Where is everyone? It seems so quiet in this dorm?” Terence asked Dominic. "Jarvis went out with Kallen early this morning. Erik went out to the town and Markus went back to sleep.” Dominic answered. Terence turned around and slowly slid open the master bedroom door and sure enough Markus was knocked out sprawled across the king size bed. He slowly closed the door back again and turned to Dominic. "What are you up too?” Dominic was back on his laptop again typing in stuff and clicking around here and there. "Nothing, working on something.” Terence nodded after hearing that and went to his side of the room and picked up his phone and PSP. Terence started checking the songs on his PSP before getting ready to head out of the room. After making sure everything is well enough he begins to head for the exit, "I’m out, got to try to find Rin today.” he said to Dominic walking out the door. "Aight” Dominic can be heard replying on his way out.
He stepped out of the dorm room and went down the stairs, not feeling like taking the elevator. He got down to the lobby, seeing male and female students here, some might be friends while others might be couples. Just as he pushed open the lobby doors he heard a voice call out from behind him. "Hey Terence.” He turned around, now looking Grant eye to eye again. "Oh it’s you” Terence said quietly. "You sound like you don’t want to see me” Grant said folding his arms. He is wearing the school uniform already, which is solid black. Come to think of it, he saw a female student wearing an all black school girl uniform. Terence shook his head trying to explain to Grant. "It’s okay friend, just teasing” Grant said wagging one finger at him. "Got a message to relay to you from Tohsaka.” Terence eyes widened. "What? What…did she say?” Terence said nervously. Grant cleared his throat. "You’re to meet her at the Library.” Terence face dropped. "The…Library?” he sighed afterwards. "Yeah sounds fun, but I have to jet right now. Got some things of my own to handle.” Grant bowed to him and left, leaving Terence to contemplate what they were going to do at the library. "Library…sounds like this is going to be a super day” he said sarcastically leaving out.
Kallen moved through the obstacle course in the training center with speed that would make most professional athletes bow their head in shame. Jarvis watched on, seeing her complete a full military course in about a minute and forty five seconds. She reached the end and took a breather, going to where Jarvis was at as he handed her a towel. "You made it look easy girl” Jarvis said to her smiling. Kallen wiped the sweat from her forehead and smiled at him. "It gets easier when you enhance your natural abilities with ki.” She said to him. "I noticed during our fight that you have a basic understanding of how that works.” Jarvis nodded a bit. "Yeah something like that. Just happened randomly one day when I was moving around my room.” Kallen began drinking a blue PowerAde that she got out of her back. "Yeah?” She said asking in a way that she wanted to hear more. "Yep, that T.V. moved way to easy and I thought at the time, I had just gotten stronger.” She put the top back on the bottle and put it back into her duffle bag and looked at him again. "So it was unconsciously. That’s amazing. Not to many develop their ki that way? Were your friends the same way?” Jarvis shrugged. "Don’t know about all of them, I know Terence was like that though. Markus probably can enhance his strength that way too.” Kallen laughed. "You all make it seem like it is common. Why don’t you run the course?” Kallen said nudging him a bit. "Nope” Jarvis said quickly. "I’ll do something else, I’m not going to run that just yet.” Kallen continued to laugh. "Understandable. How about you practice getting out some of those holds I put you in without straining yourself using Ki.” Kallen asked him. Jarvis thought about it for a bit then nodded. "Aight, that sounds like a plan.” Kallen nodded going to the center of the training arena with Jarvis following behind her. The two entered their stances and she smirked at him. "To further make this work, you’ll automatically forfeit the match if you use a large amount of ki to reverse a hold. Got it?” Jarvis sighed to himself a bit getting out of his stance with Kallen looking on confused. "Deal but let me stretch first.” Jarvis said beginning to do stretches with Kallen smiling and thinking to herself. "Take all the time you need.”
Erik walked along the paths and streets that the school has taken control of or who is supporting them. He looked at the shops impressed from what he was seeing so far. There was a good number of restaurants, fast food places, clothing stores, arcades, and a mall down the strip he was walking on. He couldn’t make it to the other areas due to the bullet train being down for the time being. So for now, all he could do was check out the Broadway Strip. He continued his self aided tour pulling out a black and lighting it, beginning to smoke it while on the move before noticing a bar that caught his attention. He looked at the name and shook his head. "Seventh Heaven…I know that’s not what I think it is.” He got up to the door looking at what appears to be the bouncer of the bar. He had blonde hair and a waiter uniform. Erik couldn’t tell whether he was just off duty or taking a break. He couldn’t see his eyes since the guy wore shades. Not bothering with the thoughts anymore he walked past the guy and entered the bar which was pretty small. The interior was made of wood, with about eight circular tables on the floor and a medium sized bar stand in the front. To the right of where Erik entered he could see a Pinball machine with some generic theme. Business seemed slow for now as there were only a few older guys in there. "Hey there.” a young woman voiced called out to him. He looked forward and saw an average height brunette behind the counter wiping down glasses and looking at him. Erik walked forward and sat down at the front nearby her, putting out his black. "Can I get you anything?” She asked him gently with a light smile on her face. "Naw not right now, just checking out what the academy got in the strip” he said to her. "Oh, you go to the Anime Academy? That’s interesting. Didn’t think anyone from there would come in here.” She said turning around grabbing a glass pouring things into it. "I mean it’s the first day, just give it about a week or so.” Erik said. "When they find out the schools bar is probably going to be crap they’ll be looking for something better.” She turned around and slid him a cocktail glass nodding to him. "That one’s on the house” She said with Erik looking at her strangely. He eventually accepted it and took a sip. He nodded and began to take another. "Not bad, best I’ve tasted anyway.” He said. She smiled leaning on the counter on her elbow. "I know, ask anyone. I make the best.” Erik ordered another one while reaching into his wallet.
Terence stepped into the library which was pretty average looking. It looked like those study halls you see on television, with tables all over the place and all the books in the back. Terence sighed again walking forward and looking around to see if he sees her. He caught sight of her in the back of the library motioning for him to come over to her. Walking over to her, he began to examine the way she looked. She didn’t look all that excited, or happy for that matter. But then again she always looks a little serious all the time. He got over to her table and sat down in front of her, keeping his head down a bit and not making too much eye contact. She noticed this and asked him a question. "Had a bad first night in your dorm?” He looked at her and shook his head. "No…I just got up early.” he said quietly. "Why are you so quiet? I didn’t even quite catch that last thing you said. You kind of mumbled it.” She said to him. He sighed a spoke a bit louder. "I just got up early. And this is just how I am…” Terence said to her. She leaned back in her chair and rose an eyebrow. "Shy you mean? We’ll work on that later.” She sighed to herself. "In the meantime I wanted to see just how much you know about ki. You seem to have the idea of it but can’t fully bring it out.” She began thinking to herself and Terence looked on confused. "I think I can help with that though. Hmm” She looked at the book in front of her which was huge and contained Latin in it. "You can read that?” Terence asked her and she nodded. "You’re impressed by this? This is simple stuff.” She said looking at him and returning her gaze back to the book. She seemed to be examining something before explaining it to Terence. "How are you going…to help?” Terence asked hesitantly. "I’m going to help by boosting your ability to absorb ki. Do you want to know why you couldn’t push out that ball of energy?” She said averting her gaze to him. Terence shook his head. "Well, your ki output is just fine, at least from what I can tell. Your problem lies within your ability to draw it. That’s what you’re failing at.” Terence began to sort of understand what she meant. "You mean I don’t have enough energy? Like in video games when you don’t have enough mp.” He said to her.
"That’s a dumb way to put it but yes. So what you and I are going to do is attempt to build your ability to empower yourself. We’ll use these.” She pulled out a three jewels and handed them to him. Terence looked at them and looked at her. "I don’t get it?” he said. She sighed again, "I want you to, for the next 3 days, store as much ki in those jewels as you can. I can determine how ki-illiterate you are and how hard I have to work from this alone.” Terence looked down and she leaned forward looking at him. "Now come a bit closer so I can show you how to properly store ki in those jewels. I’ll use one of my own as an example.”
Night time soon fell and Markus and Dominic friends soon began returning to the dorm room one at a time. Jarvis came into the room first going directly into the fridge to get some ice to place on his limbs. Markus peeked outside of his room and watched him come down the hall. "She fuck you up again?” Markus asked him. Jarvis shook his head, "Nope not that bad this time. I got out three of the ten holds she put me in without using ki.” Markus watched him go a bit further down the hall towards his room. "What is she training you to do then?” Jarvis turned to him. "Not to use ki enhanced abilities so quickly but to practice that too so when the time do come, I’ll be more effective at it and use less ki.” Markus nodded folding his arms. "That make sense.” Jarvis nodded going into his room to lay down to see Erik already there sleep or feigning sleep. "Nope” Jarvis said to himself going to his bed and laying down on the pullout watching his television before he falls asleep. Terence came in a few minutes after Jarvis did looking a bit tired in the face. "She work you to death?” Markus asked. "You know you got the drill instructor.” Terence shook his head. "She wants me to channel ki into these jewels she gave me. So that I can practice harnessing ki energy. I’ve got to have them ready by tomorrow after school so I’m going to work on them now.” Terence walked towards his room and saw Dominic still on the computer not sure if he took a break or not. He shook his head again and sat on his bed to begin concentrating on his task given to him by Rin. Markus went back into his room and laid on his bed thinking to himself. "Glad I don’t got to do none of that stuff. All I have to do is go meet with the council tomorrow and manifest ki? That’s too easy.”
