Chapter 17
Terence looked at Rin after she asked him to skip with her to get himself prepared for that fight he had been thrown into. After a brief moment of silence he eventually agreed nodding to her who nodded back. "Alright, where are the gems I told you to fill with your ki?” she asked him. "They’re back at our dorm room” he answered to her. "I think I left them on top of my dresser. I was going to get them after class and meet you.” She turned around and walked out the side door of the cafeteria that lead to the courtyard. "You coming? I’m not going to get them for you” She said stopping after opening the door. "Oh! Y-yeah right” Terence ran behind Rin and the two began to make their way back to Terence and his friends dorm rooms. They walked along the path from the north building to the south, continued pass that and made a left towards the male dormitory. When they reached the building Terence opened the door and kept it open for Rin to walk through before closing it. The two walked up to the elevator and pressed the call button sitting for a few minutes waiting for it to come down. A ding sound echoed through the dorm and the elevator opened up allowing the two entry. After the brief elevator ride the two came up to the door and Terence punched in the entry code opening the door. As he stepped in he looked around and sighed. "Man…it’s quiet in here.” He continued toward the hallway and into his and Dominic’s room while Rin stepped in to look around. Looking around the room he spots the red gems sitting on the dresser beside his old television right where he said he left them. "Good…I was hoping that’s where I left those.” He thought to himself while picking them up and putting them in his pocket. "I should probably be more careful with them from now on though.” He patted his pocket and turned around leaving, shutting the door behind him. Coming out of the room, he turned to his right and watched Rin shuffle back and forth around the living area examining everything.
"Something…the matter?” Terence asked her. She turned to him and shook her head. "It’s nothing really.” She said walking up to him. "Let me see them.” Terence pulled out the gems in his pocket and handed them directly to her. She grabbed them gems and began to look at them closely. After a few seconds, her look went from normal to agitated. "Terence…did you even do what I told you to do?” She said still looking at the gems. "Yeah, I put my ki into the gems like you said. Or at least as much as I could. I only had a day.” She shook her head and sighed. "This isn’t going to do you any good. This aren’t even a quarter of the way filled. You’ll be lucky if it deals any sort of harmful damage.” She looked him into his eyes. "You’re worse than I thought, I’m going to have to work directly with you in order for you to get it right!” She moved to their kitchen table and sat down after pulling out a chair for herself. Terence began to look a tad sad while moving over to the chair on the other end of the table and sitting down for himself. Rin held one of the gems and looked it over again before sliding it to him. "Do it again, I’m going to watch you while you do it.” She said now examining Terence. He nodded and clutched the gem in his left hand while closing his eyes, beginning to concentrate his energy on the gem. For about a few minutes nothing seem to be happening until he began to glow a faint white and the gem itself began to glow. "He’s definitely having a hard time drawing ki. He’s not going to get far if I’m correct.” Rin thought to herself. She stood up and walked over to him, stopping him from charging. "That was pathetic Terence.” Rin said to him bluntly. "It seems your problem really lies within drawing. I don’t exactly have time to show you how to draw properly. So I’m going to explain it to you as best I can, and then we’ll run drills.” Terence looked down for a bit before nodding. "You’re lucky I decided to tutor you. I’m not exactly sure how you would have turned out if it wasn’t for me helping you.” She took a chair from the left side of Terence and pulled it up beside him. The two looked at each other for a bit and silence broke out between them. "You’re… a little close…don’t you think?” Terence said breaking the awkward silence. Rin gasped and got angry at him. "What!? You idiot! It’s nothing like that!”
The school bell rung and classes were done for the day. The entire rest of the class periods, Jarvis and Markus muscled all of their willpower not to just beat down Taro right then and there. The two walked waited for Taro to leave before walking up to and talking to Kallen because they were sure they’d start a fight right then and there. Just as they joined Kallen, Lianna joined their conversation as well. "Some first day” Jarvis said to Kallen who nodded and sighed. "Yeah. Just my luck I’d get stuck with that guy.” She said packing books into her book bag. "You knew him?” Lianna asked her and she nodded. "Met him after the preliminary exams. He was an idiot then, and now it looks like he is even bigger one. I seriously hope he gets what’s coming to him.” She said a little angry. "I should have accepted the challenge…just so I can hurt him myself.” Markus leaned on the wall beside where the window was and looked at the group, "Why did y’all stop me from sending him across the cafeteria?” "Because while I’d like to hurt him myself, I am well aware of the fact he is a genius.” Kallen stood up and turned to Markus. "I’d have to pull out stops if I want to win with minimal damage. And you two don’t have your ki control down pact yet.” "What? You didn’t see that punch I threw? It was completely powered by ki” Markus said getting off the wall. "Yes I saw. But what I saw was unfinished. Say you had my ki control. That punch would have broken his guard and connected with him solidly and as you say, ‘fuck him up’.” Markus rose his finger like he was about to rebut her point, "I…will give you that. I learned that on the spot at the council meeting.” Kallen smiled and Lianna scratched her head. "Really Markus-kun? If that’s so I’m beginning to think these guys are genius’ too you know.” Markus shook his head at her, "Just call me Markus, no honorifics.” "Probably best for all of us” Jarvis added on. "I-I’ll try” Lianna said. "Speaking of being a genius though, can’t Jarvis do the same?” Lianna continued on looking at Kallen again. "Yes, but whereas Markus seem to only have upper body or maybe just offense down, I don’t know which I haven’t fought him, Jarvis is defensive and offensive. From what I can tell, it’s mostly offensive.” Jarvis shrugged. "Like I said, it just happened randomly one day while I was moving around my room.” Lianna thought to herself for a minute. "I can ask Hika-chan about Markus. But from what she told me about their fight, Markus is the opposite, defensive.” "How so?” he asked looking at Lianna. "What did she say?” Lianna folded her arms, "That she hit you squarely in the face with her blade kick, and it didn’t leave a cut like it should have.” Markus laughed, "That’s just because I’m awesome” "Anyway” Kallen said interrupting the talk. "We should check on your friend. He didn’t show up to class so he might be with Rin.” The group all nodded and walked out of the classroom together.
"I’m mad we got homework on the first day” Dominic said to Erik who was walking with him back to the dorm room. "Yep, I told you something stupid was going to happen. It just never fails” Erik sighed. "You see any hot girls in our class?” Dominic asked. "Wasn’t paying attention” he answered looking around the path that lead to the south building. "It was like four up in there. Including Hikaru make five.” Erik looked at him after hearing what he said. "You like Hikaru?” Erik asked. "She aight. She got a ass” Dominic answered Erik. He nodded and continued to look around stopping abruptly. "What happened?” Dominic asked him. Erik began to motion for someone to come over and held a finger to Dominic telling him one minute. The two waited a bit before the person he called over, Hikaru, had showed up. Dominic continued to look on while Erik was talking to her. He couldn’t make out what he was saying to her but Hikaru was looking surprised. After they talked Erik walked pass Dominic and patted him on the shoulder and walked by while Hikaru walked up to him. "Is that true?” Hikaru asked Dominic who was confused. "What you talking about? What he say?” Hikaru smiled at him, "He said you thought I was cute and wanted to go out sometime? Is it true?” Dominic began thanking to himself, "Oh my goodness, Erik tried to set me up”. He looked around the path and saw no way out for the time being. "Yeah sort off” he answered her question. "Oh! Well…we can go do something right now then! Let’s go!” She grabbed Dominic running off back towards the North building probably to take him to the cafeteria. While he was resisting her pull he finally thought of a way to get out of this.
Erik laughed to himself while walking the path to the dormitory alone. "Just needed a little silence to myself for a bit” He continued smiling while opening the door to the dormitory and stopping by the bar to see what they were selling on school days. It was just as he thought, the best you can get is something really light. The rest was water, juice, and soda. "Yep knew it” he said to himself. "This bar sucks”. He sighed and walked up to the elevator pressing the call button on it to begin waiting for it. By this time, students are returning to the dormitories so there is probably a significant amount of people using the elevator. "Interesting school isn’t it?” Erik heard someone say from behind him. He turned around and saw Grant who was bowing to him. "Yeah, it’s not you’re normal school I give it that. I can get used to this though.” Erik said. Grant crossed his arms, "Likewise friend. You’re in Hotaru’s class aren’t you?” Erik looked at him with no expression. "Are you in the class?” he asked Grant without answering his question. Grant smirked and unfolded his arms. "I see. Well, I must bid you adieu for the time being. Again there are things I must take care here.” He bowed to Erik and put his hands in his pocket walking off. Erik turned around and the elevator had already been down and opened getting ready to close with students inside. He stepped inside and press the button with his floor on it and waited for the elevator to stop there. It eventually got to his floor and the doors opened with him and a few other students walking out of it. "I think I’ll do a few beats that’s been on my mind while I was at school” he thought to himself opening the door after putting the code in. The door opened and he just stopped looking into it. He saw Terence and Rin facing each other and holding hands and looking surprised at Erik.
